Making owls.

For the last couple of weeks we have been making owls.I really enjoyed it because it was arty and creative.

To make the owl we had to try to find old unused fabrics and wooly blankets. Once had enough we started, to design our owls in our art book.Then we chose our fabric colours and the fabric for our designs.Then we cut out the shape of the owl using a template.After we had our template ready we cut out our wing, beaks, eyes and whatever else we wanted, and sewed them on with coloured thread.Then we sewed the two templates toghether using the running stitch, we had to be remember to leave a space down the bottom to put the stuffing in.When I put the stuffing in I made sure that my owl wasn't too fat.

To finish it off we sewed up the bottom using the whip stitch.
My owl was awesome, heres a photo of what it turned out like.

Team12's farm visit.

On the 7th of November the senior syndicate went to Miss Workman's farm.
It was really exiting and we even got to try some of the yummy milk.
My favorite things about the farm was tasting the milk and seeing the cut calves.
One thing that I learnt was that when they clean the cow shed after milking the dirty stuff goes into a pond then gets hosed over the paddocks to help the grass grow.
Over all I really enjoyed the farm visit and I learnt a lot.

Juggling

For about two weeks team12 have been learning how to juggle.
We started off just imagining a cross, then we threw our two juggling balls making sure they hit the cross.
This made it easier so later on we could catch them.
Then we tried catching them, it was funny because we got into pairs and watched each other throw the two balls and try to catch them.
Now most of team12 can catch them so it makes it a lot more fun.
The thing I am looking forward to is showing my parents and maybe even jugging three balls.

Juggling

Our school production.

 

This is a photo peach on our amazing production, Colour Our World.
A lot of practice and time was put into this production and everyone really enjoyed it.
My job in the production was a lead roll and I played Nervous Nellie.
My favorite thing in the production was wearing make up and the experience of standing on stage talking.
It was awesome.

Cross country

Cross country.

On the 25th of August, we went to Minogue Park to run a cross country race around a really  long muddy  field. The length of my race was 2 and a half km and I managed to finish it with out stopping.
 It was long and my legs felt like they would fall off.

When I finished I was congratulated for coming first and I was delighted with what I had done. 

Term 3...

Term3...
We are back at school for another wonderful term, sadly were already half way through the year. This term I'm looking forward to the School Production, studying the ancient and modern Olympics and last of all reading and improving on my maths.
The  two things I need to improve on are my times tables and my typing skills. The thing I'm most looking forward to is doing more arty things.

speeches

In room12 on Wednesday  last week we did speeches my speech was on the discovery of new life forms. I really enjoyed it because I got to experience some awesome speeches. The three things I think I did well at is the clarity of my voice,the intresting content and my facts.
The things  I need to improve on are my eye contact and more use of the stage.
The one thing that I learnt about Emily's speech about Easter Island is there are huge unbeleivable statues on the Island.

Room 12s awesome assembly took place on Friday 25th may. I was a mad scientist/tour guide, we wore crazy outfits including: glasses, lab coats and stockings. My favorite part was the Gallopoli landing skit, it was cool because the actors really showed the feelings of the soldiers and they didn't smile to much. I did like every thing else as well. I think everyone enjoyed our assembly.

remembrance

Remembrance is our topic this term. I have learnt heaps since the start of the term. I would like to share about my favorite thing I learnt, rm 12 making poppy wreaths. First we got a paper plate and cut a small hole in it. Then we got 4 sheets of red paper to draw our poppies on. Once we had drawn our poppies we cut them out and started gluing them on our paper plates.Once we had glued all of our poppies on our paper plates we cut a strip of red paper out and wrote a small remembrance speech on it.

My second favorite thing was learning about the Morse code. The Morse code is a special type of language used to keep things top secret. The Soldiers in World War II used the Morse code for a source of communication when they needed to get an important message across to others, without the enemies getting the message by mistake. The Morse code is made up by dashes and dots. That is only a little bit of what we have been learning in room12.

Gymnastics

On Monday people from Sport Waikato came to school to teach us a little bit about gym sports. We did gymnastics. We went around a circuit to different activities, My favourite thing was the beat board, to do it you run and place one foot on the end and jump with two feet.You have to land like you are riding a motor bike, then you hold for three seconds. We are learning about cold and warm colors I sometimes get them mixed up!

we are using warm and cold colors for our learning logs and home learning books we call it bubble art.

for one example orange is a warm color it reminds me of a sunset.Green and blue are cold colors they remind me of the ocean.
